Hello! I’m Dane Zarra. With a degree in Illustration from SVA, I’ve since grown as a Motion Graphics Animator with diverse skills that drive my visual problem-solving. In my previous roles, I executed client deliverables by editing footage or film teasers and incorporating custom motion graphics, VFX, animation, and illustrations.
For my character animation work, I file prepped, rigged (with DUIK), and composited scenes for the Official Ozzy Osbourne & Motörhead 30th Anniversary Hellraiser Music Video, Emmy-winning HBO Documentary: 38 At The Garden, and other client content explainers. For The Grio: "Juneteenth: Celebrating Centuries of Black Excellence," I also illustrated all the animated character designs and backgrounds. I have included all these skills in many explainer videos and social media campaigns for clients from Disney, CNN, Microsoft, Software One, PwC, and Discovery. I have also worked with agencies such as Casual Films, Hey Beautiful Jerk, 160/90, Postscript Creative, Mammoth Advertising, and Ghost Atomic Pictures.
When I’m not animating, designing, or illustrating, I play music. You can find me lugging around a guitar with way too many effect pedals. My approach is to blend caustic post-punk riffs, synth-like textures, and drone loops. I previously played in the bands Oil Bay, Rainwater, and Caged Animals. My quarantine hobby was learning to make edible pizza - which, as of now, is the extent of my cooking prowess.
